HR Generalist

Department: Human Resources

RECREATION CENTERS OF SUN CITY, INC.

Human Resources Generalist

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Pay Status: Full-Time; Exempt

Schedule: Mon - Fri; 7:30am - 4:00pm

Job Summary:

The HR Generalist is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the Human Resources department. This includes tasks such as recruiting, hiring, and onboarding staff, managing pay, benefits, and leave, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with departmental managers to identify required skills for open positions and facilitate the recruitment and hiring process.
  • Conduct background checks and verify employee eligibility.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and benefits meetings.
  • Administer various HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary actions, disputes, investigations, performance management, safety, training, and development.
  • Address employment-related inquiries and refer complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Manage employee leave programs such as FMLA, STD, and LTD.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations at all levels.
  • Stay updated on HR best practices, trends, legal changes, and new technologies.
  • Handle court-ordered garnishments and process health and welfare plans.
  • Resolve discrepancies with carriers, payroll, and insurance providers.
  • Process employee changes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform any other HR duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal employment laws.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software systems like HRIS and ATS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification required.
  • Four to eight years of relevant HR experience necessary.
  • Experience handling confidential HR matters and providing leadership coaching.
  • Familiarity with administering employee benefits and garnishments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit at a desk for extended periods and use a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
