PAINTER - Full Time

Days/Hours: Monday-Friday; 6am-2:30pm

Job Summary: Under general supervision, performs skilled work in painting exterior and interior surfaces in buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Estimates material, labor, and time necessary for jobs
• Prepares requisitions for paints, materials, and supplies
• Paints and refinishes a wide variety of interior and exterior items and areas; including wood, wood trim, plastered walls, dry walls, and steel surfaces
• Prepares surfaces for painting
• Mixes, matches, and applies paint, varnish, shellac, stain, and enamels
• Scrapes, patches, spackles, and caulks holes & surfaces and tiles small area
• Tapes and textures drywall remodeling jobs
• Operates paint spray guns
• Cleans tools after use
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in painting commercial type buildings or any combination of education or experience.
• Any combination of training, education, or experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties of the position
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Arizona

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the painting trade
• Knowledge of chemical properties of coating so that mixing, matching, and thinning may be accomplished
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to perform a full range of physical motions, using moderate power, sometimes working at heights
• Ability to physically perform intricate movements where detailed painting is required
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
